Stylemaker Jinlu

Born in Anhui, China, in 1963, Cheng Jin Lou began studying painting at an early age. His father, a respected teacher in the traditional art of calligraphy, taught his son the fundamentals of brushwork, and in middle school, he learned the techniques of lithography from the famous print artist Ying Tian Qi. In 1989, Jin Lou graduated from the Central Art Institute of China with a major in design. After working with various Hong Kong design firms, he won an award in the 2004 Chinese competition "Creative Oil Paintings by 1000 People." This motivated him to pursue a career as a professional artist.

Inspired by nature and light, he became known for outdoor scenes imbued with his singular point of view, balancing subject and background with a clever use of perspective and color that drew the viewer into the picture. Under the professional name Jinlu, he has devoted himself to abstract compositions that has become extremely popular with contemporary art collectors.

Jinlu has been featured in numerous art publications, and his works have won awards in China and around the world. In January 2009, a book devoted to his life and work was published in Hong Kong. Each of his works is hand painted by Jinlu, so although the original design is constant, some natural variations occur to make each piece unique.
