About Amanda Brisbane:
Amanda Brisbane has been hailed as the United Kingdom's foremost sand-casted-glass artist. Different from kiln casting, which requires castings made in plaster or structural molds to be placed in kilns to heat glass to the point it will flow into the mold, sand casting involves casting hot molten glass from a furnace (like a glass blower) and casting the molten liquid glass into a specially created sand mold. A mold is made for each piece and the casting is destroyed each time, so no two pieces are ever alike. Each piece in the Amanda Brisbane collection is a unique blend of artistry and chemistry, and the artist herself enjoys producing the raw materials she uses to color the glass. The formally trained glass artist has won awards for her sculptures, and Amanda Brisbane pieces can be found in both private collections and permanent museum collections around the world.
