The 3,000 year old historic city of Panipat in North India, famously called "the city of weavers" is home to thousands of artisans. The weavers here have mastered the skill of weaving thick cotton and jute yarn into one of our favorite home textiles. The thick weave holds up well to wear and tear, and yet it has a comfy soft hand feel to it. Its a labor-intensive process that often requires several iterations on a loom followed by hand-knotting and embroidery.

About Bloom & Give:
Bloom & Give donates 10% of total sales to girls education initiatives in the developing world. The company currently supports 12 schools and programs across India directly impacting nearly 2,000 girls.
Best friends Partha and Madhu founded Bloom & Give during a life-altering trip to India in 2014. They visited many rural textile co-operatives and were completely awestruck by what they saw - traditions that had been passed down and perfected over hundreds of generations - cotton yarn being slowly spun on a wooden wheel; gorgeous silk tassels being individually assembled; cashmere throws being dipped in vats of natural dye and mixed with uncanny precision. These very artisans are now creating Bloom & Give's line of contemporary women's accessories and home decor pieces.
While spending time in the villages, they were shocked by the massive gender disparity still present in India today. Having three daughters between them, it was jarring to see 13-year old brides, and 18-year old moms. They then discovered that school was the only effective way for a girl to escape an endless rut of childhood marriage, preteen pregnancy and abuse. Bloom & Give is the vehicle they created to bring heirloom textile traditions to the US and send back support for the girls there who need it most.
