"Our Lady of Hope." She knows our hearts, sorrows, and desires. She emerged from Seville, Spain during the 17th century as their depiction of the Virgin Mary, and she is considered a national treasure there, enshrined at the Basilica of Macarena. La Macarena is meticulously carved by hand out of sabino wood, each piece taking 10 days to make. First chiseling her form out of a solid piece of wood, the detail gets progressively finer. The final step is placing her delicate hands that cradle rosary beads. For preservation and display, the carving sits atop a piece of clear Italian acrylic with a fitted iron base that is signed and numbered. She is a work of art, a symbol of hope, a treasure to own.
